Victorian Christmas Decorating Theme

My Favorite Theme for Christmas~Victorian!

Victorian Christmas decorating theme Christmas Decorating ideas blog

Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong century! Now I would not want to give up all our modern conveniences at all. Well, never mind that, there are a few I could live without. But mostly I am glad for our modern way of life.

Still I love the Victorian era, the clothes, the art, the manners, the decor, the writing style, even little things like the fonts used in advertising. I love all of it! So I guess  that's why my favorite way to decorate for Christmas is in a Victorian Christmas Decorating Theme.

So here I have gathered some ideas for you if you, like me, love Victorian stuff for Christmas!

Victorian Wreaths for Your Front Door

Here are 2 different styles of Victorian Christmas wreaths. The one on the right is probably more true to the way they did them back in the Victorian era, but the one on the left shows lovely Victorian houses and gets you into the spirit of Victoriana, so either one is great to introduce your guests to the theme they are about to enter.

Also, I love to put them all over the house, not just the front door! They make lovely wall art!

Here's a video showing how to make your own Victorian wreath. I actually did this and it came out so beautiful! I left it with my daughter when I moved to Ireland though so don't have it with me. Maybe I'll have to make another one. I always kept it next to the front door inside the house to keep it nice.

Victorian Ornaments for Your Christmas Tree

I love these beautiful ornaments and they are already done for you! Hint for you: I put ornaments on all my plants, and around the house too. In clear bowls, around door handles, on the mantel, etc to add Victorian ambiance.

If you like making your own ornaments, this kit will make it easy for you!

Victorian Christmas Garlands

Garlands are tricky. Your choice is really going to depend on your tree color and the other decorations on your tree. I like to do my Victorian Christmas tree in shades of Pink and pale Blue and White so I would use White garlands. And I like to use White trees and still decorate in pastels. (I usually have more than one Christmas tree)

But I have seen lovely Green trees with different colored garlands and colorful Victorian ornaments too. So it's up to you!

Here are a few pastel garlands, as I think they are the most commonly used in Victorian Christmas decorating themes. There are so many garlands! Just click any of these to see many more!

Victorian Christmas Tree Skirts

I like White Christmas tree skirts for a Victorian Christmas theme, so that is what I am showing here. Hint from me: You can also use a White sheet and wrap it around the bottom of your tree if you are on a budget. The gifts will cover it anyway!

Victorian Stockings

To continue the pastel theme for your Victorian Christmas, I have found you some White and pale Blue stockings for your fireplace. No fireplace? No worries, just put them on the wall close to your tree. Santa will find them, I promise.

Decorated Victorian Tree

Here's a decorated Victorian Christmas tree. Isn't it beautiful? Notice they started with a Green tree, but added mostly White ornaments and garlands. Gorgeous!

Another beautiful Victorian Christmas tree!

Merry Christmas!
